School is Opening - Please Drive Cautiously

The Holmdel Township Police Department has  started conducting high visibility traffic enforcement in neighborhoods, school routes and school zones. With the summer almost over and school starting next week, we want to remind motorists to drive cautiously. The goal is to ensure students make it to and from school safely.

Some things to consider

  • Many people are not even aware of how fast they are going.  If a car going 20 MPH hits a pedestrian, there is a 95% chance of survival.  However, the survival rate declines to 45% at 30 MPH and less than 10% at 40 MPH.
  • Any person seeing an incident of unsafe driving, including passing a school bus, double parking, or unsafe conditions, such as speeding or blocking the view of a crossing guard, is urged to notify the Holmdel Police Department at 732-946-4400 as soon as it is practical.

Together we can keep children, Crossing Guards and pedestrians safe all year long.

If you would like any further information or have any questions, you can contact Ptl Thomas Struble or Ptl Matthew Menosky, Traffic Safety/Crime Prevention Unit, at 732-946-9690 ext. 1733 or 1731 tstruble@holmdelpolice.org mmenosky@holmdelpolice.org
