Reverse 9-1-1

The Holmdel Police Department recently purchased the Reverse 9-1-1 Interactive Community Notification system, whereby the Police Department can contact residents immediately in case of an emergency.

How it works:  A member of the Police Department records a phone message.  The Reverse 9-1-1 System dials phone numbers, which have been programmed into the system, or it can call anyone in a specified geographic area.  The system can be used in case of a lost child, burglary suspects at large, major traffic accident or road problems, or any disaster, which may occur.

Community Bulletin Board:  Through the Reverse 9-1-1 system, the Holmdel Police Department has set up a community bulletin board.  By calling 732-946-4440, you will be able to hear traffic updates, school closings, neighborhood watch news, and other valuable information.

Guardian Calling:      With this system the Police Department can program phone numbers of people who are alone in their homes (elderly or ill).  These people will be called at a specified time each day, and will be asked to enter a personal code number.  If the person does not answer, or if they enter an incorrect code, a specified relative or friend as well as police personnel, will be notified immediately so that they can check on the resident.

If you want to be sure that you are on the Police Department’s list of residents to be called in an emergency, sign yourself or someone else up for “Guardian Calling,” or if you want more information on the system, contact Chief Wilson's office.
