Sewer Charges & Rentals

A municipal sanitary sewer utility system was created and established within the Township of Holmdel in the County of Monmouth and State of New Jersey for the regulation and use of sewers, to insure the proper operation and the protection and preservation of the system, fixing the amount and charges therefore and providing rules and regulations therefore.

Such system, including the sanitary sewage treatment plant, pumping stations and appurtenant structures, works and fixtures relating thereto, and all extensions and improvements thereof situate in and constructed at public expense by the Township of Holmdel, shall hereafter be operated, maintained, managed and controlled by the Township of Holmdel as a publicly owned utility of the Township of Holmdel within the meaning of N.J.S. 40:63-1 et seq., amendments thereof and supplements thereto and all other provisions of other laws applicable.

The sewer system rental or use rates in the Township of Holmdel shall be established by the Township Committee of the Township of Holmdel. The schedule of rates shall include the rates to be charged residential buildings, commercial buildings, institutions, hospitals, industrial uses and all other users of the sewer system.

Sewer charges and rentals shall be as follows: 

2023 Residential Sewer Rates:   Owners or occupants of residences, whether in the Townships of Holmdel or Hazlet, shall pay a flat rate of $119.50 per quarter, except that owners or occupants who use 6,000 gallons of water or less, or 6,001 to 12,000 gallons of water, in the winter quarter as evidenced by water consumption figures of the Water Utility Company, shall pay a flat rate of $78.00 per quarter or $104.00 per quarter, respectively. All of the aforementioned shall be per dwelling unit, except that where multiple dwelling units are served by a single water meter, the flat rate shall be $119.50 quarter / dwelling unit, unless the total water consumption for the winter quarter, divided by the number of dwelling units, is equal to 6,000 gallons or less or 6,001 to 12,000 gallons, in which case the flat rate shall be $78.00 or $104.00 per quarter / dwelling unit, respectively.
