Project Medicine Drop

Project Medicine DropProject Medicine Drop

Since its launch in November 2011, Project Medicine Drop has become a key component of the State's efforts to broaden public awareness about prescription drug abuse and curb the misuse of prescription drugs. This Program allows New Jersey residents to dispose of unused and expired medications anonymously.

In response to this growing trend, the Holmdel Police Department's request to house a permanent drop off box for unwanted/expired medications was granted. The box is located in the lobby of Police Headquarters, and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Acceptable and Unacceptable Items

Acceptable drop box items: pills, capsules, patches, and pet medications.

Unacceptable items: liquids, syringes

Medications can be in their original containers or loose. Labels may be removed if there are privacy concerns.
