Training Bureau

In-Service Training

The Training Bureau delivers mandatory in-service training for all full-time sworn and special law enforcement officers. In-service training is typically used to provide refresher training on mandated subjects and skills, such as Use of Force, Domestic Violence, and Vehicular Pursuit. The Training Bureau delivers in-service training through various methods including classroom instruction, hands on skills, virtual learning, and web-based platforms to accomplish its training goals.

Policy Updates

The Training Bureau ensures all Department personnel are informed of new and revised policies and procedures. The bureau uses a web-based document management system to ensure compliance. Updated policies and procedures are routinely covered during in-service training.

Police Recruit Training and Field Training Officer Program

The Training Bureau prepares newly sworn officers for academy training. The Administrative Sergeant liaisons with the training academies to ensure compliance with the Police Training Commission rules and standards.

At the completion of recruit training, new officers are assigned a Field Training Officer for the duration of their working test period. The Administrative Sergeant oversees the delivery of field training through the Department's Field Training Officers. New officers are expected to meet all of the performance objectives of the program.
